LATE NIGHT FORGIVENESS

David Letterman earlier this week announced on public T.V. that he cheated on his wife with woman that work on The David Letterman Show. This was said to be a blackmail incident worth $2 million dollars.  On the show Monday he public apologized to his wife. " I have my work cut out for me" Letterman said, that is a understatement. He has not only embarrassed his wife public but also made himself look like a idiot, why do that to someone you love.

  1. Letterman wasn't always my favorite talk show dude, but yeah. I wasn't surprised because it's one of many pieces of the damaged American culture. I can imagine the embarrasment his wife must feel, but more of a sense of betrayal.

  2. I just think that Letterman should have kept his private business private and not further ruin your public reputation more than it already has. Sure he was blackmailed to probably making it public and make matters worse but he shouldn't have cheated in the first place.

  3. I am not a fan David Letterman. I agree that it was wrong for him to expose his business on national television like that. My heart went out to his wife because that had to be awful for her to not only hear but have everyone in the country hear too. However, I think I know why Letterman did it, not that it excuses his behavior in any way. I feel like a lot of people were after exposing his secrets and were going to try and jeopardize his job. Letterman's solution to that was to come out and say everything he was hiding. The way he said everything gave off the kind of attitude of yeah okay I did it, what now?

  4. I think that Letterman announced his affairs publicly, on his show, because he knew that they were going to be revealed soon, so it was better, and actually saved his wife more embarrassment, to admit it himself, rather than it be made public by the media. I also think that although the way he did it may have seemed crude and insensitive, it was his style. He is a late night personality, he couldn't have been too sentimental and mushy. I think his witty, self-depricating way of letting the world know that he cheated on his wife was the only way of doing so, otherwise it would've seemed even less sincere.
